Dear Editor,
Although I did not receive the bid for the contract as Head Professional for Spring River Golf Course, I received something unexpected and very precious to me and my family. We saw an outpouring of support that was greater than we ever imagined. The response from the community has been awesome. We would like to take this time to thank everyone for e-mails, letters and phone calls to city employees and council members during the past two months. People drew up petitions and spoke at city council meetings on my behalf. In the end, the city council had to uphold the statutes and approve the proposal of the hiring committee.
I hope that the golf community will now move on and embrace the new professional and that he enjoys the same support and friendship that I have experienced in the time that I have been here. As my wife and I enter into the next chapter of our life, we will always cherish your love and friendship. Whether our next opportunity is in Roswell, or somewhere else, we will remember this time with fondness. Thank you again for nineteen wonderful years.

This year's "Best Places to Play" rates nearly 6,000 courses in North America and the Islands. The courses were evaluated by approximately 20,000 Golf Digest readerson a five point scale.
